Hough's parents sent him to London to train with dance greats such as Coach Corky and Coach Shirley Ballas. He would spend ten years in the country honing his skills, learning many different forms of art, such as acting, various dance styles, and singing. He also picked up several musical instruments, including the drums and piano.
With his well-rounded abilities, Derek made a splash in 2007 on the hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars,” which gave him the platform to show off his abilities to the world. There, he spent nine years as a competitor and won the show, not just one or two times but an incredible six times, which is a record that has not been broken since.
He has become one of the most in-demand choreographers of our time. He helped Meryl Davis and Charlie White win a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and is often found in the credits of many artists videos, either as a performer or director, including Lil Kim, Cheryl Cole, and Lindsey Stirling.
Derek is also a New York Times Best Seller for his book "Taking the Lead: Lessons from a Life in Motion," which hit the shelves in 2014. Other notable mentions include winning three Emmys for Outstanding Choreography from a remarkable 11 nominations.
His previous tours have been huge successes, like his 2014, “Move Live On Tour,” at which he and his sister performed to sold-out venues, and you can expect his latest one to be way better.
