Jon Stewart at Mohegan Sun Arena

Stewart has always combined his stand-up career with hosting TV shows. It’s the mix that truly allowed his career to take, hosting the Daily Show on Comedy Central. This was of course not his first similar gig. He’d been hosting different late night efforts for years before he got the role that he’s most known for. Late night has always been in his pedigree as well. Stewart himself mentions that his first big break came when he was on Letterman. Letterman was one of his biggest supporters throughout his entire career. Let’s get to the elephant in the room, then! How political are these Stewart live shows?

Stewart’s always been know to thread the needle! The show at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday the 13th of September is going to include plenty of references to the ongoing presidential campaign and the situation with the war in Israel. Stewart has been able to develop his comedic style to talk about very serious topics, but not lose that touch that generates the laughs. It’s similar to what someone like fellow Comedy Central alumni Dave Chappelle has done later in his career. This makes it an evening that’s not for the easily offended, for sure. It could be a great show to take your partner to.

At the end of the night, Jon will likely have provided plenty of conversation starters that you can use for the following days. One of the great things about performers like Stewart is that he can change the set on the fly. Other acts will just tell the jokes they have as part of their current set and call it a night. Stewart’s much deeper than your average comedian. He’ll take some chances to talk about sketchy topics and even mingle with the crowd a bit.

The Mohegan Sun Arena is a good venue to watch this type of show. You can sit comfortably even on the upper floors. What you’re looking for are Stewart's insights and his jokes. It’s not too necessary to sit right next to the stage. If you want to get a chance to interact with Jon on that night, though, the seating next to the stage is your best chance to do so. Get your tickets early! Part of the arena is closed off for that night, so it’s a limited seating event. Spots can sell out quickly.
