311 at Mohegan Sun Arena

In 2023, 311 celebrated their third decade in the circuit with a 30th-anniversary edition of their debut effort, Music. The album made waves on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, while its single, “Do You Right,” entered the Top Alternative Songs chart. At the time, 311 was a highly unique force in rock music – infusing alternative riffs with reggae influences. By the mid-'90s, the band’s music became a fixture in the scene. They released their single, “Down,” in 1996, and it became the first ever 311 song to peak at number 1 on a Billboard chart. After this career-defining effort, the band had consistently performed phenomenally on the charts.

Aside from their remarkable studio efforts, 311 is an incredibly dynamic live act. The band has been praised for their high-energy sets. They embraced so many genres while still giving off the vibe of Pearl Jam and Nirvana to cater to their main fan base. Thirty years after they emerged, 311 has displayed outstanding longevity, and they continue to pack venues everywhere they go.

This 2024, fans can look forward to a highly diverse setlist ranging from their early works all the way to songs from their latest effort. During an interview, frontman Nick Hexum mentioned that they make it a point to keep a balance between newer and older songs. “You go back and forth between high and low energy and back and forth between familiarity and obscurity. We want to make sure that we’re throwing in some nugs, as we call them, for the fans. But when I go to a show, I want to hear familiar songs that are culturally important, i.e., hits. We just make it a balance.”

For the better part of 2023, 311 has reportedly been in the studio recording some new songs. That’s why fans are incredibly pumped for 2024’s trek, as they are expecting to hear some surprises. As Hexum mentioned in an interview, they are indeed working on new music, and he has guaranteed the new material will contain big rock riffs. “We’re taking a lot of time to workshop them as a band to make sure that they’re kick-ass in the studio before we put them down. We want it to be 311, but 311 on steroids.”
