Born on December 11, 1987, Shane Michael Gillis is an American actor, podcaster, sketch comedy writer, and stand-up comedian. Gillis co-hosts the highly popular podcast on Patreon, Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast, alongside fellow stand-up comedian Matt McCusker. The Just for Laughs festival in Montreal recognized Gillis as one of its "New Faces" in 2019.

In 2021, Gillis published his first comedy special, Shane Gillis: Live in Austin, on YouTube. Gillis is also well-known for his partnerships with filmmaker John McKeever on their online sketch comedy series, Gilly & Keeves. Gillis’s second comedy special, Shane Gillis: Beautiful Dogs, was released on Netflix in September 2023.

Influenced by Louis C.K., Norm Macdonald, Dave Chappelle, Patrice O'Neal, Bernie Mac, and Bill Burr, Gillis started performing comedy in 2012. He frequently gave performances in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In order to advance his profession, he moved to Philadelphia. He finished third in the annual "Philly's Phunniest" tournament held by Helium Comedy Club in 2015, and he took first place the following year. In 2016, Gillis and Matt McCusker launched Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast. Gillis's profile grew in 2017 when he started appearing frequently on The Bonfire with Big Jay Oakerson and Dan Soder. Additionally, he started hosting Tommy Pope's weekly program A Fair One on Compound Media.

During his performance at Comedy Central's Clusterfest in 2019, Comedy Central named Gillis a "Up Next" comedian. The same year, Gillis was named a "New Face" at the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. At that festival, stand-up comedian Robert Kelly interrupted Gillis during an interview for All Things Considered, saying, "You're very funny, dude... I mean, I wanted to hate it." The interviewer, Andrew Limbong, described Gillis' set at the festival, writing: "Shane Gillis gives off post-jock energy—like someone who used to play a sport in school, then had the self-awareness to realize he wasn't cut out for it and stopped—but he isn't bitter about it at all. His friendly demeanor distracts you, while he sneaks in just a whiff of social insight within a barrage of self-deprecating sex jokes.”

Gillis has signed a contract with Netflix for his second streamer special and a scripted comedy about a workplace. Based on his YouTube pilot, Gillis will serve as Tires' executive producer, writer, and co-creator. On May 23, the six-episode series will debut on the platform.
